Welcome back to our series of Maine ATV club interviews with individual clubs. We shine a spotlight in a Q&A format to help readers "Get to Know" individual clubs and the impact they make in their community. Let's get to know Katahdin Valley Wheelers.

We heard from Beverly Lane, Club Secretary.
ATV Maine: What is the name of your club and where is it located?
Beverly: We are Katahdin Valley Wheelers in Sherman and Stacyille, Maine.
ATV Maine: What inspired the founding of your ATV club, and how has it evolved over the years?
Beverly: A handful of people started the club because they loved to ride and enjoyed getting together as a group and going on rides. Over the years, the club has grown in members and our trail system has been improved for better riding.
ATV Maine: How is your club different from other ATV clubs in the region?
Beverly: We try and do a club ride once a month. We plan rides to different places and the club will cook hotdogs or we ride someplace to eat. We do a poker run, and put on a lobster dinner during the Town of Sherman Labor Day celebration. We have food sales and cook the famous bandstand hot dogs a couple of times a year. We also put on an ATV safety class for the young riders every year.

ATV Maine: Can you share a favorite ride or trail experience that members rave about?
Beverly: The Tony Nason Memorial Ride starts off the season of rides of in June. We ride to the picnic areas that Tony and Tiger made, and stop over on the PD rest area to cook hot dogs and tell stories about Tony. He was a big part of the club right from the beginning and is greatly missed.
ATV Maine: What types of events, rides, or social gatherings does your club host throughout the year?
Beverly: Club rides, food sales at the bandstand, poker run, lobster dinner.
ATV Maine: How does your club contribute to maintaining and improving local ATV trails?
Beverly: We fix the bridges if needed. We make sure all trails are signed really well, so riders will know where they are and where they are going. We do whatever else needs to be done to make their riding better.
ATV Maine: What’s the most unexpected or exciting thing that’s happened on a club ride?
Beverly: They all have been pretty exciting. Everyone always seems to have a wonderful day meeting new people that become your friends, a riding family.
ATV Maine: What kind of riders make up your club—are you more about adventure, family fun, or something else?
Beverly: It's all about family fun. Getting together, enjoying time on the trails, and a lot of laughs. That's the main thing, to make sure everyone has a fun time.
ATV Maine: Why did your club join ATV Maine?
Beverly: To get the insurance and to get to know and learn about other clubs and what they have to offer. ATV Maine makes it possible for clubs to ride on Irving land.
